Job Summary

Alliant Energy is currently looking for an Associate Project Manager who is ready to #powerup their career! This is an opportunity for a talented project manager who is building their career in the energy field - if this is you, we encourage you to apply!

The Associate Project Manager will assist and manage in a variety of gas distribution projects throughout our Wisconsin service territory. The person in the role will work out of one of our Wisconsin operations offices or our Madison, WI general office.

This is a project position with an estimated duration of 18 months. There is potential to extend the length of time or for the selected candidate to apply for other internal roles in the future.

What you will do

Projects you work on in this role will range from simple replacement projects, a complex road move, or a customer driven project.

One of the newest growth opportunities this role will focus on is renewable natural gas (RNG). We are in the process of constructing five RNG sites throughout our territory to inject processed biogas from large dairies into our distribution systems. The skills developed managing various gas projects could lead to future opportunities to help manage electrical distributions projects as well!

• Utilizes the Alliant Energy project management methodologies and processes (based on PMI Standards) for project delivery in order to achieve scope, schedule and cost objectives while effectively managing risks that have the potential to affect project deliverables.
• Provides assistance to other project managers through schedule management, cost management, or other PMO support functions.
• Develops and executes communication and stakeholder management plans related to projects, including the development and reporting of project status, risks and progress to stakeholders in an agreed to format, frequency, material content, and audience of the communications.
• Ensures operational teams are properly trained upon completion of project, work orders pertaining to the project are closed, all related finance charges are handled, documentation is in order, and a smooth transition of deliverables occurs.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree Required
• Certification Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management Preferred

Required Experience

• Internship or prior experience in project management.

• Ability to organize project plans and effectively document accordingly.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and carry out responsibilities with a minimum of direction.
• Demonstrated effective leadership and team skills.

• Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
• Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
