This Opportunity

With our innovative pipeline there is a need to develop appropriate mouse models to test our IO molecules. We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Scientist with a background in immunology or related field to join the Early Discovery Oncology Bioscience team in Gaithersburg, MD. You will lead a team of in vivo scientists and be responsible for creating new mouse models or improving existing mouse models to be used to interrogate the biology of immunomodulatory targets or target pathways using cutting-edge technologies and novel approaches to enrich our immunotherapy pipeline.

Main Activities and Responsibilities

Working in this laboratory-based position within Oncology Research you will develop, design, conduct and analyse both in vivo and in vitro experiments to assess the function of our candidate oncology drugs and dissect the mechanism of action of novel cancer therapeutics with a focus on myeloid targeting.

You will be expected to support cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with project leaders to ensure the timely generation, and dissemination of critical program data, and contribute to scientific publication goals.

As a highly organized, self-motivated individual with a strong background in laboratory science you will stay up to date with relevant technical and intellectual scientific expertise in tumor biology, pharmacology and cancer modelling and have a genuine passion for this field of research.

Education Requirement

  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in a biological science with 5-10+ years of post-PhD research experience in industry or academia. Industry experience is preferred but exceptional candidates with substantial & relevant academic experience will be considered.

Necessary Skills and Experience Required
  • Line management experience (2-4 years)
  • General knowledge of biologic drug development.
  • The ability to work closely with key leaders in partner functions to ensure that project goals and timelines are adhered to.
  • Experience with different in vivo models of cancer including subcutaneous, orthotopic and transgenic/inducible models in both immunocompetent and immunodeficient animals, including sampling and processing of tissues for downstream analysis.
  • Experience across multiple model platforms to develop and analyse PD biomarker endpoints in tumors and tissues.
  • Designing and implementation of multi-parameter flow cytometry panels (preferred 10+ fluorochromes) and an ability to analyse and plan next steps based on results of experimental outcomes
  • Must present with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, together with evidence of delivery in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
