We are seeking an Associate Editor who will be responsible for helping grow our digital presence, collaborating cross departmentally to create engaging content and assist in the management of content creation initiatives. The ideal candidate should be a proactive self-starter with a keen eye for details, endless sparks of creativity and a passion for learning more about digital new media. You must have a basic understanding of the online content ecosystem and a strong editorial or writing background. Familiarity with WordPress or similar CMS is essential.

You'll Report To: Manager of Operations, People

A typical day as an Associate Editor might include:

    • Assist in reviewing, assessing, and editing new articles to identify editorial trends, ensure content meets quality standards and adheres to voice and style guidelines.
    • Assist in reviewing and refreshing our library of archived content (also known as renovations) so articles are accurate and up to date long after their original publish date.
    • Assist in defining editorial direction, creating guidelines, sourcing and managing qualified freelance writers and copy editors, overseeing content production and performing other duties to support successful creation of high-quality content.
    • Manage, post to and maintain active social media platforms. Content mix should include elements that are attention-grabbing, informative, entertaining, and truthful.
    • Research a broad range of subjects to create specialized content requirements for speciality verticals including SEO, newsletter, and social media.
    • Perform other editorial tasks and projects as necessary to support business objectives.
    • Assist Sr. Editors and Managers as needed with our social media strategy, plan and roadmap for increasing followers, engagement and traffic for each of our properties•
    • Recommend strategies and execute tactics. Have a "test and iterate" mindset that will drive you to try multiple tactics to increase all KPIs.
    • Ongoing competitive analysis of competitors' online presences to stay up-to-date with leading best practices.



What you have:
    • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in journalism, English, communications or related field or equivalent related experience.
    • A minimum of 1-2 years of editorial and social experience.
    • Excellent content editing and copyediting skills. Proficient in AP Style and has experience creating editorial calendars and online programming.
    • Familiarity with basic SEO concepts, including the role content creation plays in organic search traffic.
    • Knowledge of online metrics and statistics reporting tools such as Google Analytics.
    • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Basic Photoshop skills are a plus.
    • Experience creating marketing email campaigns or other forms of performance marketing is a plus.
    • Not afraid to wear multiple hats - no job being too small or too large.
    • A willingness to learn and share your knowledge with the team.
