Associate Director of Financial Aid

The Associate Director of Financial Aid plays a crucial role in assisting in the oversight and management of the financial aid operations of the institution. This role is responsible for assisting the Dean for Financial Aid in developing, implementing, and evaluating financial aid programs and services that support the institution's mission and the needs of its students.


Key Responsibilities:
* Responsible for processing financial aid applications and determination of awards in compliance with all federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures.
* Exercise professional judgment in interpreting and applying federal regulations.
* Evaluate student aid applications, complete federal verification, submit FAFSA corrections, prepare missing information, and monitor continued eligibility.
* Overall responsibility for the student loan programs, including evaluation and processing loan requests and monitoring eligibility in accordance with federal guidelines.
* Advise students, prospective students, and families regarding student financial aid, eligibility, regulations and office policies and procedures when applicable.
* Assist students with the completion of the FAFSA, loan counseling and financial aid applications.
* Assist with Satisfactory Academic Progress evaluations, including tracking, processing, and notifying students.
* Protect privacy of student educational records in accordance with federal and institutional policy.
* Report and reconcile the Federal Pell Grant program and Direct Loan program with the Business Office and the Department of Education.
* Ensure quality customer service by providing timely processing of applications and continuous evaluation of procedures to offer recommendations for improvements.
* Identify and analyze problems pertaining to financial aid with an emphasis towards problem resolution and student service.
* Serve as a VA School Certifying Official which includes communicating with students on how to request enrollment certification, awarding of funds, and management of VA documents.
* Maintain up to date knowledge of State and Federal financial aid regulations.
* Assist in the development, modification, and writing of Financial Aid policies and procedures.
* Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously with efficiency and attention to detail.
* Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
* A bachelor's degree in a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
* A minimum of 3 years of experience in financial aid administration, with a progressive increase in responsibilities.
* In-depth knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and programs.
* Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
* Proficiency in Banner is preferred.
* Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards.
* The ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Regular and reliable attendance is required.
