The Role in Brief:

Associate Cloud Operations Engineer

The CloudOps team at EAB is responsible for the production and maintenance of our core AWS infrastructure and critical services. You will be helping the team manage and deliver these services using enterprise standards that CloudOps creates. You will interface with engineering leaders and developers across all product lines to help ensure our products and internal services are available, secure, fast, reliable, and robust.

Primary Responsibilities:

Supporting EAB product development teams in the cloud.

  • Creating custom AWS stacks with CloudFormation and associated deployment tooling
  • Investigating deployment, configuration, security, and availability issues alongside our development teams
  • Ensuring secure access to Cloud toolsets
  • Facilitating SOC2 compliance via auditable access trails

Managing critical infrastructure
  • Configuring, deploying, and upgrading software development tools and services
  • Monitoring of critical systems
  • Developing in-house tools to monitor and validate compliance with EAB CloudOps standards
  • Interfacing with EAB engineering leaders to review compliance and determine our security posture

CloudOps standards definition
  • Configuration and deployment automation
  • Site reliability monitoring and disaster recovery
  • High availability architecture practices

Adoption advocate
  • Help CloudOps and product teams execute according to the standard
  • Producing reference implementations of standards
  • Coaching product teams and developers
  • Learning from and mentoring peers

Basic Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related field OR equivalent work experience
  • 1+ years of experience in production software development and/or operations
  • Passion for learning new technologies and finding the best fits for your colleagues
  • Hands on experience with AWS
  • Experience with distributed Source Code Management (SCM) tools, e.g. Git
  • Some experience with operational CM/provisioning tools, e.g. CloudFormation, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
  • Excellent communications skills

Ideal Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with one or more application frameworks and associated deployment practices: Python/Django, Ruby/Rails, Java/Spring
  • Experience in Linux configuration and administration
  • Strong scripting capabilities: Python preferred
  • Hands on coding experience in Python, Rails or Java development and related operations
  • Integration experience with third party/open source system monitoring tools
  • Some experience with task management tools, JIRA preferred
  • An understanding of Agile methodology either by formal education or on the job experience
