  • Demonstrated effective planning and collaboration with stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:

Job Description:

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA), the Assistant Vice President for Curriculum & Academic Programs (AVPCAP) is responsible for managing a broad range of services in curriculum and commencement to include: developing new academic programs, performing research and data analytics, planning and implementing commencement ceremonies, collaboratively developing a strategic plan for curriculum and commencement functions within the context of the university's mission, values, and strategic planning process. The AVPCAP coordinates curriculum and commencement activities with campus leadership and works closely with faculty, department chairs/school directors, college deans and other offices on campus. In addition, the AVPCAP is responsible for ensuring effective operations in the Office of Curriculum Services and oversees work carried out by its staff.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinate with faculty and academic units for the development of new academic programs at the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses in compliance with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB)
  • Conduct research and provide data analytics in support of potential new academic programs
  • Ensure compliance with THECB, Texas State University System (TSUS), and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) standards
  • Develop substantive change proposals for SACSCOC
  • Interface with and provide critical input to the General Education Council (GEC) and the University Curriculum Committee (UCC)
  • Develop and oversee Academic Affairs curriculum policy and procedure statements
  • Develop critical partnerships with academic units and program assessment teams
  • Monitor and provide updates to annual Low-Producing Programs as required by the THECB
  • Monitor and facilitate the 60×30TX Marketable Skills initiative
  • Facilitate the THECB Fields of Study initiatives
  • Provide input and advice to International Affairs on academic support for international students
  • Collaborate on new degree program budgets with the Budget and Financial Analysis Coordinator with the Office of the AVPAA
  • Collaborate with AVPAA colleagues in developing academic programs that enhance curriculum and support student success
  • Co-Lead the Community of Practice for Service-Learning Excellence (SLE) and the EXC2EL Center
  • Collaborate on fund-seeking opportunities for AVPAA academic programs such as SLE & EXC2EL
  • Coordinate with faculty, department chairs, school directors, college deans, associate vice president, and provost on the academic administrative unit proposals in compliance with the policies and procedures of the THECB
  • Provide leadership in commencement planning and implementation, including participation on the Executive Commencement Committee.
  • Ensure annual development of the graduate and undergraduate catalogs
  • Coordinate distance education program proposals with faculty, department chairs, school directors, college deans, and the Assistant Vice President for the Office of Distance and Extended Learning
  • Coordinate with faculty regarding the execution and maintenance of the Occupational License Notification system (per HB 1508) as required by the THECB
  • Undertake efficient and effective project management of new degree proposals as required by the THECB and TSUS
  • Submit the university mission statement and table of programs updates to the THECB
  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day curriculum operations of the Office of Curriculum Services
  • Perform other duties as assigned
