Position Description:

The School of Family and Consumer Sciences invites applications for one full-time tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor) in Nutrition. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate nutrition courses related to research design, biostatistics, nutritional epidemiology; involving undergraduate and graduate students in research related to the areas listed below; obtaining external funding and publishing in peer-reviewed journals; and participating in appropriate service activities. Food science and related research will not be considered.We seek candidates to support our undergraduate Nutrition and Food (Dietetics) and our graduate MS in Human Nutrition programs. Collectively, this position includes teaching, scholarship, and professional service. The position is subject to the availability of funds.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned PhD or equivalent doctorate degree (with at least 18 graduate hours of coursework in nutrition); ABD candidates will not be considered;
  • Experience teaching at an accredited college or university;
  • At least one year of postdoctoral research/scholar experience;
  • Experience engaging with, creating, or managing large datasets;
  • Research with human participants, patients, or clients;
  • An active research program related to one or more of the following areas and focusing on dietary patterns and nutrition on individual, community, or population health, mother/child dyad outcomes, or chronic disease;
    • Nutrition interventions, including planning, design, implementation, evaluation or analyses of randomized controlled trials, or implementation science;
    • Nutrition epidemiology, including analyses of national panel surveys, national cohort studies, large randomized controlled trials, complex or big data;
    • Systems or computational biology or analyses of proteomic, metabolomic, transcriptomic, nutrigenomic, nutrigenetic, or microbiome data from diverse biological samples
  • Experience writing or co-writing grant applications for external funding;
  • Recent publications in impactful journals related to the above-mentioned research topics;
Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in nutrition or Public Health
  • Registered dietitian credential
  • Experience teaching courses as instructor of record at the collegiate level
  • Experience teaching research methods, statistics/biostatistics, or epidemiology courses at the graduate level
  • Experience applying for federal grants
  • Experience securing external funding as a PI, Co-PI, or as the nutrition lead
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate students
  • Teaching or research awards received at the graduate or postdoctoral level
  • Undergraduate degree in nutrition.
