Assistant Professor, Health Sciences and Human Performance (Exercise Science)


The Department of Health Sciences and Human Performance within the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with expertise in Exercise Science, emphasizing Sports and/or Clinical Nutrition. The Department of Health Sciences and Human Performance seeks a qualified and highly motivated faculty member to contribute to our undergraduate program in Human Performance and graduate program in Exercise and Nutrition Science. Candidates with scholarly research and activities that result in peer-reviewed outcomes are required.

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Responsibilities will include a teaching load of 12 credit/contact hours per semester at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The candidate is expected to engage in scholarly activity, advise/mentor students, and participate in service to the department, college, University, and broader community.

The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a Health Sciences and Human Performance-related discipline by August 2023. Registered Dietitian (RD) is preferred with experience in sports and/or clinical nutrition and/or supplements. Certified Sport Nutritionist (CISSN), Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) and/or Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP) are desirable.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a commitment to teaching various courses in Health Sciences and Human Performance. Courses may include but are not limited to Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, Sports Supplements, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Strength and Conditioning, and Biostatistics. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in lower and upper-division undergraduate courses and in hybrid courses (i.e., online and face-to-face lectures) in the Exercise and Nutritional Sciences graduate program.

The candidate is expected to demonstrate a future research agenda. Research expertise in areas of sport and/or clinical nutrition and/or supplements is desirable.
