The Department of Mathematics in the College of Science, the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position in Statistics and Data Science at the assistant or associate professor level to start in September 2024.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and advising of undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of statistics and data science and will have opportunities to develop courses that align with their research interests. Faculty are expected to establish/have an active research program that broadens UT-Arlington's talent pool, write grant proposals and secure external funding, teach BS, MS, PhD courses in statistics and data science, collaborate with other faculty, supervise and mentor students of diverse backgrounds and interests, and be involved in service to the department, university, and the profession.

Required Qualifications:

The minimum qualification is a doctoral degree in Statistics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related areas. Candidates are expected to establish/have an internationally recognized research program and to have demonstrated a solid commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, and service. Full consideration will be given to applicants whose research interests align with the University's Data- Driven Discovery research objectives, in particular in the areas of statistical applications, theory, or methods; statistical machine learning; and data science.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates in any research area of statistics and data science are welcome to apply. They include but are not limited to.

  • conducting multidisciplinary research in multiomics, health informatics, immunoinformatics, genetics, neuroinformatics, among others,
  • working with health-related data and emerging technologies, AI, ML, VR, etc.

UT- Arlington is a public Doctoral University with Highest Research Activity (R1) in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education and part of the University of Texas system with an enrollment of about 40,000 students.
