Responsibilities

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION: The Assistant Director is in charge of the development of branded marketing campaigns for new and existing initiatives as needed including comprehensive marketing campaigns, logos, website, social media, branded print collateral and promotional items for all units in the University Housing including contracts and assignments, residence life, residence education, conference services, childcare, and off campus housing student support. Develop and produce marketing plans and graphic design assets for the department. Seeks out development opportunities for self and departmental staff to inexperience or knowledge gaps. Works closely with the DSA Marketing and Communications Office to ensure the department maintains marketing and communications best practices and collaborates on projects including brainstorming and project management.

SUPERVISION: Supervises, evaluates, and develops two full-time professional staff members - marketing & off-campus housing program coordinators, and provides support for student staff. Oversees the team to research and gather inspiration for the visual identity of the University Housing brand and individual projects. Assigns project work to staff members and ensures that quality work is delivered by deadlines.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Coordinates internal stakeholders and external vendors, supervising all projects to completion. Ensures consistent branding across University Housing projects and aligns with Division and University standards. Coordinates with University Housing units to ensure project completion ahead of major events and processes including student staff recruitment, conference services, professional staff recruitment, on-campus contract processes, and off-campus housing fairs.

STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS: Creates and maintains mutually beneficial working relationships with campus departments and off-campus stakeholders, including but limited to: New Student and Family Programs, DSA Marketing and Communications, and Admissions. Coordinates and participates in major events such as Orientation, Housing Fairs, and Admitted Student Days. Serves as official Housing representative to the Department of Student Affairs.

STRATEGIC PLANNING: Develop strategic growth and comprehensive marketing plan for the department based on marketing best practices and University goals. Manages University Housing marketing budget. Assesses department's current practices and materials, stays apprised of current best practices, connect with colleagues at other institutions to ascertain best practices, and makes recommendations for changes to raise departmental standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience related to academic and/or student services; or a high school diploma/equivalent and eight years of experience in the same. (Note: a combination of post-high education and experience equal to eight years in the same.)

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree.
Knowledge of and the ability to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals and objectives.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives.
Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information.
Ability to train and supervise employees.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
Knowledge of applicable computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of management.
