Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Event and Program Marketing at the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation plays a crucial role in executing marketing strategies for a diverse range of events and programs. These initiatives are designed to engage and serve Chicago Booth alumni, students, faculty, and social sector practitioners. The position demands a blend of creativity, analytical skills, and project management expertise, and strong writing abilities to effectively promote topics such as social entrepreneurship, impact investing, nonprofit board governance, and capacity building in the social sector, and other social impact areas. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to manage multiple projects, leverage digital marketing tools, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive engagement and achieve the center's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and manages global event and program marketing strategy and processes to engage key audiences, including email campaigns, social media, and more.
  • Collaborates with the Rustandy Center program team and designers to produce consistent, on-brand collateral for events and programs, including day-of materials, customized swag, and more evergreen materials like program flyers.
  • Executes organic and paid social media strategies for events and programs, ensuring alignment with overall marketing objectives.
  • Maintains and updates the Rustandy Center website, ensuring both the overall site and event and program-specific content is current, accurate, and optimized for user engagement.
  • Keeps up-to-date with the latest in global marketing trends, including emerging social media platforms and tools.
  • Assists with general marketing activities, administration, and day-of-event execution.
  • Utilizes project management skills and tools such as Airtable to organize and track marketing initiatives.
  • Works closely with other departments and international offices on marketing projects, which may require evening or early morning calls.
  • Employs design skills and tools such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator to create visually appealing marketing materials.
  • Manages email calendar. Tracks send dates, drafts copy, designs, and deploys 100+ emails per year.
  • Develops marketing communications, advertising, or publicity materials with a moderate level of guidance from others. Develops, plans, and coordinates the development and production of marketing and publicity materials and campaigns, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Performs one or more of the following marketing functions: marketing communications /advertising; Web blogs or digital marketing; market research; development or review and update of the marketing infrastructure and management of external sales agency relationships.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, or a communications-related field.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:
  • Website management and familiarity with content management systems, alongside marketing tools such as Sprinklr, Marketo, and Sitecore.
  • Project management software like Airtable or Asana and design tools including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Canva.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Preferred Competencies
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to create compelling and effective marketing content.
  • Comfortable working with diverse teams across different geographies.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, including expertise in copywriting and editing.
  • Work quickly and juggle multiple detailed tasks/projects simultaneously with the utmost attention to detail and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Working Conditions
  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
  • Take calls in the evening or early morning.
