Lake Area Technical College is accepting applications for an Assistant Dean of Academics. The Assistant Dean of Academics position is full-time and duties will be completed in person, on the Lake Area Tech campus in Watertown, South Dakota. This position is open until filled. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required. Master's degree in Education or a related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching or a curriculum development-related position required with preference for experience in a post-secondary environment.
  3. Excellent written communication skills including experience in curriculum development and revision required.
  4. High level attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines required.
  5. Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to achieve common goals.
  6. Excellent people skills and an affinity for working with young adults and coworkers in a team environment to support students.
  7. Bilingual a plus.
  8. National Career Readiness Certificate level of gold or higher a plus.

REPORTS TO:  Dean of Academics, Vice President

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise curriculum development, design, and improvement for all instructional departments.
  2. Further develop expertise in curriculum design theory, relevant instructional content, and techniques and share knowledge with instructors and staff for continuous improvement.
  3. Research and develop new academic programs in collaboration with the new program committee. Serve as the lead writer for new program proposals.
  4. Provide technical guidance to Department Supervisors and the Director of Enrollment for faculty scheduling and course loads, including assigning general education courses such as the Career Search Strategies class.
  5. Manage the program curriculum outlines and curriculum change process to ensure accuracy and adherence to the required approval process.
  6. Review course descriptions and syllabi annually and oversee the college course catalog.
  7. Maintain and expand articulation agreements to maximize credit transfer.
  8. Develop, write, and monitor the academic outcomes for grant applications and initiatives.
  9. Participate enthusiastically in the Lake Area Tech team atmosphere.
  10. Serve as an active member of the Academics Department supporting other functions of the department including, but not limited to, faculty hiring processes, professional development, assessment, and accreditation.
  11. Lead the Academics Department in absence of the Dean of Academics.
  12. Some evening and weekend work required. Travel required.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

229 day contract with salary and benefits set by the Watertown School District. Position starts July 1, 2022.
