Job Description
The Area Sales Director is responsible for managing and leading all sales activities within the assigned area. This position has direct management and leadership responsibility for Regional Sales Managers (RSMs). The ASD will also have indirect management and leadership responsibilities for all Sales Representatives (inside and outside) working within the area. This position requires a high-level of communication, leadership, business travel and business acumen to provide strategic planning and direction to direct reports in order to achieve sales objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, strategic direction and tactical execution while delivering all area financial objectives and managing the sales activities and development of Regional Sales Managers (RSM), Account Managers (AM), Strategic Business Managers (SBM), and Inside Sales Representatives (ISR)
  • Develop, manage & deliver area sales forecasts
  • Responsible for leading customer engagement within the area of responsibility
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans to meet area, regional and company goals
  • Implement and uphold all company compliance policies and procedures
  • Coach, council and develop managers & representatives on buy and bill, direct selling techniques and market strategies to expand product demand
  • Conduct and lead monthly operating review program within the Area. This will span across all RSM's and AM's
  • Develop and coordinate physician-training programs, practice enhancement in-services and open houses
  • Coordinate administrative demands and field day objectives; manage and inspect all monthly RSM reports as determined by Sales VP

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Business or a related field, required
  • Ten (10) or more years of progressive sales experience in quota-driven role with preference given to experience in dermatological, medical device, or specialty pharmaceutical sales
  • Three (3) to five (5) or more years of previous experience managing a team of sales professionals
  • Previous management experience in specialty sales or training preferred
  • Ability to travel 2 - 3 times per week within designated Area, travel to home office in Fort Worth, and significant weekend conference / trade show attendance
  • Experience in Marketing, Commercial Excellence or other Functional Support / Development roles is preferred
  • Advanced interpersonal skills to work with direct and indirect reports in the delivery of coaching and performance feedback
  • Effective communication skills to build rapport and relationships by interacting effectively with employees and external contacts (i.e. MD and office staff) at all levels, demonstrating the awareness of their needs and responding with the appropriate action
  • Traditional and non-traditional problem-solving techniques to think through and solve issues creatively to improve performance and company effectiveness
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills to manage multiple priorities
  • Exhibit behaviors in line with Galderma Competency Model

Attendance at company-sponsored meetings is required. Some meetings or meeting-related travel may occur during evening or weekend hours. Travel estimated at 25-30%; overnight stays required.
