JOB DESCRIPTION

As our Area Manager, you will manage a territory of local paint contractors and stores to assure our products are part of the big projects happening in your area. Every day is a little different as you meet new contacts and follow up with old friends to convert conversations into goals. To thrive you must have paint experience - working in a paint store or as a contractor - and understand how great paint products are used to save teams money.

Solving challenges is the very foundation of who we are. After all, our founder, sea captain Robert Fergusson, didn't particularly set out to invent rust preventive paint. He just wanted to keep his ship intact and stumbled upon a valuable solution. Today, that discovery is Rust-Oleum Corporation.

As our Area Manager, you can expect:

  • Calls and conversations into your connections to get to know more about upcoming projects and potential sales opportunities in your territory.
  • To talk about paint. You must feel comfortable talking to professional contractors about what products to use, and why.

Required Experience:

  • 2 - 4 years of previous outside sales experience is required.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in a business related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and have maintained a motor vehicle record within acceptable limits as prescribed by Rust-Oleum.
  • Prior sales experience within the given geographic territory preferred.
  • Prior experience in a sales service role with demonstrated success in customer retention.
  • Availability to work and travel within assigned territory 30-40% of time. Periodic evening and weekend hours required for trade organization meetings and customer events.
  • Previous coatings experience strongly desired, industrial coatings a plus.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
