About the role:

WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for an Application Engineer to join our team in Duluth, GA. This role is the primary technical resource for the field sales force, and is responsible for actively driving and
managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process for gearing and automation products. Working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Application Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The Application Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintains expert level of product and application training and knowledge of both gearing and automation products.
  • Articulates technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
  • Reviews and clarifies request for quotations (specifications, emails, phone calls, etc.).
  • Leads and takes ownership of the proposal/opportunity by requesting feedback from Sales or directly from customers, when appropriate.
  • Provides design and specification support to equipment builders, consultants, integrators, and distributors.
  • Listens, understands and conveys customer requirements.
  • Performs technical/ product training for sales people and engineers at targeted accounts.
  • Resolves customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives.
  • Maintains professional business relationships within target accounts.
  • Provides status of ongoing projects and future projects.
  • Identifies customer's needs and sales opportunities to help future growth.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education:
  • Bachelor of Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience.

Knowledge / training:
  • Understands basic to medium/complex level applications.
  • Basic knowledge of low voltage VFDs and Soft Starters is required.
  • Basic knowledge of HP, torque, speed calculations
  • Basic knowledge of power transmission including gearing, bearings, chain, couplings is preferred.
  • Able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and nomenclature is required.
  • Knowledge on how to use spreadsheet to create / compile costs and pricing for projects.
  • Basic understanding of the sales process for gearing and engineered products will be trained
  • Knowledge of market and competition will be trained; aligns work with strategic goals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, as well as Outlook.

Experience:
  • 1+ years of relevant experience.
