Android Software Engineer III (Home-Based)

Explore how you can grow

The future of food sustainability is complex. That's why over 20,000 customers across five continents rely on our cutting-edge networks, workflow tools and analytics platform to drive change. The key to our success is our ability to empower people to revolutionize the agri-food and animal health supply chains. Therefore, if you bring curiosity, ambition, and inventiveness, we will help you think big, aim high, and explore more.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of Software Engineering experience; Java and Kotlin programming skills
  • A proven ability to write clear, concise, manageable code in an Agile environment
  • Experience using Android Studio / Emulator / SDK / PlayStore
  • BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
Each Software Engineer on the team is responsible for building features from start to finish. This means your fingerprints will be on the interface with our data platform, front-end views, data models and unit tests. This is an opportunity for you to have a major contributing role to a product that provides a global impact on agriculture.

Typical day-to-day tasks for an Android Software Engineer may include:
  • Collaborate with teams to create a fast, resilient, and stable application to support our growing product offering
  • Learn new technologies and approaches that may improve the performance or add new functionality to our applications
  • Share what you have learned and built with team members across the Proagrica organization
  • Analyzing user reports and crash logs to triage and mitigate bugs within the software
  • Workshop with software engineer peers, business analysts, and QA engineers to provide reasonable and accurate estimates to help create a well-groomed backlog
Important traits for this role:
  • Propensity to learn: Software development is continuously evolving. We want to foster an environment of teaching and learning to equip individuals on the team with the knowledge and tools to be successful.
  • Communication: We are a distributed team. The amount of communication necessary to be successful in building a product and have our process efficiently flow is much more than you could imagine. You should be comfortable in communication through chat, video conferences, Confluence, and Jira.
  • Empathy: Every single member of the team is contributing towards the same goal, building world-class farm and agronomy products. Our journey towards this goal will require a healthy dose of empathy and care for each member of the team.
Proagrica is part of LexisNexis® Risk Solutions Group (RSG), we are passionate about an environment focused on innovation, real passion for our products, and teamwork, where working in an agile manner is par for the course. RSG is part of RELX, a FTSE100 global provider of data, information, and solutions for professional customers; RELX has recently been ranked by Forbes as #53 in their Top-2000 Global Employers and is also listed in Forbes Top-100 Most Innovative Businesses.
