JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for testing chemical bath samples of metal finishing products submitted by customers. Technician will assist in research and development of new products. Wet chemistry techniques and instrumental analysis including AA and ICP will be utilized. Responsible for calibrating and maintaining laboratory instruments, recording all lab work and test results and generating laboratory reports for customers. Accountable for quality control testing for small line of products made at this location. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Customer Bath Analysis

  • Analyze incoming customer bath samples following test procedures
  • Ensure timely and accurate analysis of samples
  • Generate accurate reports from test results
Quality Control and General Lab Duties

  • Analyze product batches to ensure product meets quality specifications
  • Generate certificates of analysis based on QC testing
  • Prepare standards and reagents as dictated by procedures
  • Record results accurately in logbooks and electronic database
  • Monitor chemical inventory, lab supplies, and stored samples
  • Maintain a clean and professional work environment
  • Ensure timely and accurate analysis
  • Calibrate and use various instrumentation including but not limited to pH meter, conductivity meter, analytical balance, AA spectroscopy, UV-VIS spectroscopy, and ICP

Technical Service and R&D Support

  • Mix small scale (≤ 1 gallon) batches of product
  • Monitor and assist with NSS corrosion and relative humidity testing
  • Assist with various projects as directed by R&D

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1+ years in a scientific or engineering field preferred
  • Experience in a laboratory setting/titration methods
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time and prioritize with an attention to detail including accurate record keeping
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to learn/acquire new skills to assist other functions with the laboratory setting
  • Strong analytical skills with goal oriented attitude
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

EDUCATION REQUREMENTS

  • Associate's degree in chemistry, materials science or other related field (Chemistry preferred but not required. A combination of work experience and education will be considered in lieu of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree)
