Job Summary

Reporting into the Sr. Manager, Altus Group is searching for a Real Estate Data Science Analyst to join the valuation team in our New York office. The data analyst supports inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling data to discover useful information, informing conclusions, and supporting decision-making. The procedure includes data collection, processing, exploratory analysis, modeling and algorithms, and outputs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing analysis templates, creating further efficiencies, and leading efforts on initiatives that will complement our valuation and data platforms.

  • Using quantitative analysis techniques such as: check raw data for anomalies, re-perform important calculations, check relationships between numbers that should be related predictably, and normalize numbers to make comparisons easier.

  • Requires advanced working knowledge of complex Excel tasks like VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) programming, data simulation, analytics, and advanced formula usage (such as Macros, Power Query, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, Dynamic Name Range, etc.).

  • Improve client deliverables through data visualization. Includes presenting sets of primarily quantitative raw data in a schematic form. The visuals used are formats tables, charts and graphs, diagrams, plots, geospatial maps, figures, and correlation matrices, which sometimes will be combined in a dashboard.

  • Participate in comprehensive training, including On-Boarding Training (Core Competency Training, Business Practices and Ethics & USPAP & Basic Appraisal Principles and Procedures) and become ARGUS Certified.

Key Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data/Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field with a minimum 3.2 GPA (knowledge in RE is a plus).

  • Strong Excel proficiency and the ability to complete complex Excel tasks, experience with VBA, R or Python Statistical Programming, Structured Query Language (SQL), Tableau/Power BI, Snowflake.

  • Ability to proactively communicate (i.e., when behind on deliverables or seeking assistance).

  • Experience working independently or within a team environment setting in a professional or academic setting.

  • Critical Thinking, Presentation Skills, Project Management.

  • Willingness to work outside regular hours.
