JOB SUMMARY:

Support poultry research and teaching at Piedmont REC (PREC) Morgan Poultry Farm. Assist CU manager and staff in all animal management, maintaining facilities, and carry out research and teaching protocols. Weekend and holiday work required. Complete other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

65% - Essential - Animal Care: Implement all aspects of animal husbandry including but not limited to feeding, health assessment and care, pen preparation, pen upkeep, and pen cleaning, egg gathering, and animal handling.

20% - Essential - Maintenance: Perform general farm facility and equipment maintenance as necessary. Maintains landscaping. Using equipment that includes tractors, lawn mowers, and skid loaders.

10% - Essential - Personnel: Coordinate undergraduate student employees and assist graduate students to accomplish on-farm tasks.

5% - Essential - Research: Assist with research activities as assigned including but not limited to, feed, weigh, catch and restrain animals, and others tasks required by research protocols.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree - Animal husbandry, agriculture or a related field and experience in agricultural research or animal care that is directly related to the area of employment. Work experience in animal care or agricultural research may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Expected Salary Range: ($31,600 - $40,000)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Essential Level 2 employee

Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
