The Role

Our VMEC (Vehicle Motion Embedded Controls) organization is looking for Advanced Feature Function Engineers. Our Advanced FFEs play a vital role in projects, demonstrating his or her expertise and multi-functional partners to innovate controls solutions for our propulsion systems. This position requires an individual with a passion for innovation, an adept knowledge of hardware and software integrated systems, and a demonstrated capability to manage a wide variety of technical and customer needs. A balance of technical and project leadership skills, ability to think creatively to find exciting solutions and someone who is able to deal with ambiguity is paramount.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with partners to identify requirements, develop, plan, test and validate Advanced Technical Work (ATW) projects
  • Engaging multi-functional team members to coordinate on-time delivery of components to meet project timing
  • Developing control methods and controller software code
  • Developing calibrations or calibration methods as part of project development
  • Performing system verification based on stakeholder or project requirements
  • Performing modeling simulation activities using experimental data
  • Verifying control methods and software code on simulated test benches or in developmental vehicles
Minimum Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Understanding of Global B System Architecture
  • Desire to learn embedded software development and automated build processes and associated tools: Git/Gerrit
  • Experience in software coding using either C, C++ or Python, Control Desk
  • Understanding of HIL and/or SIL testing
  • Adept knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink
  • Understanding of rapid prototyping platforms: ETAS, dSPACE
  • Proficient with automotive communication technologies (Intrepid / Vehicle Spy)
  • Experience successfully leading large and/or difficult projects with high levels of ambiguity
  • Ability to understand vehicle level wiring schematics
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in serial data software coding (AUTOSAR/ARXML)
  • Demonstrated leadership in controls and/or software innovation
  • Proficient in calibration development
