Examples of Work
This is responsible administrative support work for upper-level management staff of the Administrative Office of the Courts of Probation.

Work involves, but is not limited to, the handling of confidential administrative matters, performing complex support and related clerical duties for administrative staff, and involves decision making responsibilities requiring considerable organizational skills and independent judgment. This position is distinguished from those at lower levels by assignment of decision making responsibilities requiring considerable knowledge and independent judgment and sole ownership of projects or major tasks. Performs related work as required.

Prepares correspondence and other materials utilized in communicating with other entities as well as within the Probation/Court Systems. Collects and validates statistical information submitted by various offices and maintains records on statistics and activities. Compiles annual statistical reports. Provides support as needed for an assigned administrative function such as collecting/reviewing information and writing responses to inquiries or complaints; composing or tracking preparation of administrative, operational or similar reports or informational summaries concerning workload, budgeting, staffing or legislative topics; arranging schedules and agendas, recording minutes, and preparing a written record of proceedings for various meetings.

Plans, organizes, and implements work assignments, as directed, in related administrative service areas such as accounting, budgeting, grants, contracts, personnel, legislation, public relations, or in program operational. Responds to questions from employees and external persons on matters pertaining to program or administrative functions. Suggests improvements to work procedures and operations to be used by staff to ensure
Administrative Assistant/Probation/Court Administration the proper use of staffing, equipment, information, and material resources.

Arranges and attends meetings and conferences, takes minutes, composes drafts of proceedings, prepares and distributes agendas, schedules and other material. Makes hotel reservations. Participates in fixed asset requirements. Participates in special events/projects including the Food Bank drive and United Way. Maintains inventory records and performs related duties for ordering and maintaining office supplies.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from high school with at least four years' experience in related duties.

PREFERRED: College degree. Excellent communication skills with both internal and external customers and staff. Pay attention to details.

All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to establish and cultivate good working relationships with coworkers, individuals in positions of authority, criminal justice agencies, compacting states, field officers, and the general public. Knowledge of the judicial branch of government, the organizational structure of the Nebraska Probation/Court System, and the criminal justice processing of offenders. Ability to grasp and adhere to principles of confidentiality.

Knowledge and understanding of the Nebraska court system and general probation case management and supervision practices. Ability to organize and manage time and work space. Working knowledge of Nebraska Supreme Court case management and database applications. Good written and oral communication skills. Working knowledge of modern office equipment, including computer hardware and software applications.
