Adjunct- Computer Info Systems & Computer LiteracyResponsibilities/Duties

  • Ability to teach courses in computer science and computer literacy.
  • Possess expert skill level in Microsoft Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Have knowledge of Windows operating systems and common business applications.
  • Ability to quickly build connections with students using strong interpersonal skills.
  • Incorporate new methodologies in teaching and technology into classes.
  • Implement flexible and innovative teaching styles and approaches, as appropriate to the class.
  • Actively engage students in lectures, discussions, or laboratories
  • Conduct classroom presentations and activities utilizing methods appropriate to reach students of varying educational/experiential backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Exhibit competence in the assigned field of specialization and exhibit professional competence in the classroom.
  • Create new digital course materials.
  • Use evidence-based resources to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Assess and monitor student progress and comprehension throughout the class.
  • Post syllabus, course materials, and other educational resources to Canvas.
  • Grade assignments, reports, and homework.
  • Submit grades in the faculty portal and in Canvas an efficient manner.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with students.
  • Maintain accessibility to students; post and maintain office hours.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field or a Master's degree in another field with at least 18 hours post-graduate studies in the teaching discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Three years Community College teaching experience and/or computing or information technology industry experience.
  • Academic or industry certifications are a plus.
