Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Director specializing in reporting, estimating and analytical processes located in Midland, Michigan. The Accounting Director for estimating and financial reporting provides leadership to finance professionals in strategic planning, corporate reporting and business finance working with a group of key contractor resources. In addition to leading these resources aligned to Finance, this position will also guide and influence the work being done within the DSA/IT organization that partners closely with this group. This position is also accountable for streamlining the financial planning systems cycles and working closely with the financial global reporting group (FGR) around our closing cycle for both management and legal results. Yearly corporate initiatives are reviewed and prioritization of the yearly workplans may change focus for our team.


  • Engage with business finance, tax and cost accounting groups to streamline their reporting and analytics processes.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in our financial reporting systems with an emphasis to business finance, tax and cost accounting work processes.
  • Drive reporting priorities within the DSS/DSA organization especially related to our SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) application strategy for consolidations and estimating.
  • Active involvement with DSA Leadership team on corporate initiative objectives working to secure all resources necessary to deliver on the Finance Forward goals.
  • Co-Pilot the BPC vision and strategy with our IT organization to ensure Dow is well positioned to continue the delivery of estimating solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Global reporting team to assist in "run the business" issues as required.
  • Determine the I/T support model required for our BPC footprint to be successful and advocate with I/T
  • Active monitoring of contractor support for Dow BPC solutions
  • Lead the yearly Corporate Finance Reporting initiatives and ensure necessary resource needs.
  • Represent the Finance Reporting Planning and Analytics team on the Finance System Leadership Team.
  • Provide strong leadership to your team through active engagement coupled with a focus on developing talent

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree OR 15 years of relevant industry experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience is required.
  • Deep experience with Business Planning and Consolidations
  • A minimum requirement for a U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance or IT.
  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of formal people leadership experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in BPC, reporting systems and/or analytics.
  • Experience in change management efforts.
