Job SummaryUnder direction, the Accountant, Accounting Services position adheres to generally accepted accounting principles and performs various accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling non-student accounts, financial reports, and general ledger accounts. This position works with other areas of the College to facilitate invoicing to organizations that could have student tuition as well as other types of invoicing needs and provides customer service to these customers. This position interacts with all areas of Accounting Services and people at all levels and departments around the College. The incumbent will need to be able to think creatively about setting up and administering contracts that have varying terms and scopes of work related to invoicing for the College.

Accounts Receivable

• Assists with providing non-traditional student invoicing. Analyzes and reconciles non-traditional student accounts. Provides customer service regarding payments. Processes and reviews account adjustments. Resolves discrepancies per policy and procedure. Abides by contracts as they relate to invoicing.

Accounting Services

• Assists with requesting, processing, and reconciling third-party billings, payments, and adjustments. Collaborates with staff and third-party entities to resolve discrepancies in accounts. Reconciles financial reports and general ledger accounts. Keeps accurate records. Completes and maintains required documentation.
• Performs bank reconciliations, using information and files provided by the bank and general ledger analysis. Identifies and categorizes differences, researching unidentified items from the bank to ensure proper recording on the general ledger. Abides by federal, state, and other statutory regulations, as well as College Policy and Procedure.

Accounting Support

• Supports all areas of Accounting Services. Collaborates with accounts payables, cashiers & student accounting, grants accounting & reporting, financial accounting & reporting, budget, and other departments of the College as needed to ensure that work is completed accurately.
• Adheres to generally accepted accounting principles. Supports the Office of the Controller, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Accounting, Business, or a closely related field
• At least one (1) year of progressively responsible experience in accounts receivables and collections OR customer support
• State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s)

*An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework, and experience may qualify a candidate.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm
