College/Department Information
The Controller's Division Missions are: Account for all financial resources and provide advice to administrators, faculty, and students to support the University's overall mission of instruction, research, and healthcare services; Manage the investment of all University funds to ensure maximization return on investments; Receive and deposit all funds due to the University in a timely manner; Ensure compliance with both internal and external regulations, policies and procedures; Maintain and process the University payroll, accounts payable, and travel disbursements efficiently, accurately, and timely; Prepare financial and statistical information to the University management, federal and state agencies, and other interested parties; Maintain the University's accounting and financial reporting systems.
Job Summary
The accountant in this position is responsible for monitoring assigned sponsored accounts. This entails educating the department administrators and principal investigators concerning compliance issues and assisting them in managing the sponsored funds in accordance with state and federal regulations. This position will also be responsible for invoicing/reporting to the sponsoring agency, reconciling accounting records, tracking accounts receivable, and preparing management reports.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare financial reports for federal and non-federal grants/contracts.
- Send invoices/expenditure reports to sponsoring agencies for Non-Letter of Credit accounts.
- Monitor grant accounts to determine that expenditures are in compliance with agency requirements for grant accounting.
- Establish and maintain budgets for SPA managed accounts.
- Assist departments in correctly managing sponsored funds to include educating department administrators about compliance to federal and state regulations for sponsored accounting.
- Review and authorize any cost transfers for sponsored accounts.
- Track accounts receivable for invoices.
- Verify that indirect costs are calculated correctly on accounts.
- Set up and reconcile cost share accounts and over the cap processes.
- Serve as a backup for the Effort System, Subrecipient Monitoring, and ePAR Approvals.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Required Experience
Three years of applicable experience
Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred Qualifications
Sponsored Accounting or Research Administration experience.
Excel experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to maintain confidentiality
Detail-oriented
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Shift/Salary/Benefits Shift: Days: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Grade: 16
Salary : $41,846.00/Annually - $55,000/Annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
