Summary

Responsible for fostering customer relationships and creating new business opportunities via daily face-to-face customer interactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as apparent or required by management.

Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.

Travels throughout assigned territory to meet with regular and prospective customers on a daily basis or as directed by management.

Displays or demonstrates product to customers using samples and/or catalog.

Uses phone, email, promotional material, trade shows, and face-to-face meetings as primary sources of communication.

Follows-up on tele-sales efforts for new business opportunities and strengthens existing customer relationships.

Quotes prices and provides estimated dates of delivery to customer.

Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.

Works with inside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date.

Records new customer data and other sales data for current customers.

Attends national and regional trade shows.

Participates in correlation studies, evaluations, and conversions of the company's blood collection system.

Responsible to log all customer interactions/activities in the CRDB such as appointments, quotes, samples, etc.

Attends sales training, refresher courses, and new product introduction presentations as required.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in a Life Science or Health Science field from a four-year college or university; and two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Qualifications

Minimum 3 years' experience in medical or research sales is required.

Previous experience in a medical or research setting is preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, and color vision.

This job requires up to 90% travel throughout assigned territory and up to 50% overnight travel outside of territory. The employee must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles in a hospital setting. The employee may be exposed to Bloodborne Pathogens and will require training on preventative measures. The employee must also be able to obtain immunization records and maintain compliancy with all vendor requirements.

The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
