DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, incumbent will independently participate in an interventional oncology research lab examining the effects and mechanisms of action of minimally invasive thermal ablation in conjunction with a variety of immune modulators including viral nanoparticles, therapeutic antibodies, and chemical adjuvants on mouse models of primary liver cancer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Theoretical knowledge of cell biology, molecular biology, cancer behavior and tissue culture or related field; or combination of education and experience.

  • Proven experience with techniques involved in small animal care including drug administration, colony management, weight checks and monitoring.

  • Thorough knowledge of sterile techniques for cell culture. General analytical chemistry skill (mixing chemicals and reagents, balancing equations, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience in animal care, handling, and restraining skill and knowledge (dogs, pigs, rabbits, rats, mice, etc.).

  • Thorough knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment, such as sterile techniques, preparation of buffers, centrifuges, balance pH meters and electrophoresis equipment.

  • Strong ability to keep detailed records including but not limited to, lab notebook, imaging logs, cell logs, animal health and surgical records.

  • Proficient computer skills. Experience with various software packages. Ability to collect, reduce and analyze data.

  • Experience in general laboratory maintenance and cleanliness.

  • Experience with library and internet literature searches, scientific reading of articles and manuscripts.

  • Exceptional organization skills and ability to work in a team. Must be capable in general laboratory management including to monitoring and adhering to compliance regulations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Fundamental knowledge of immunology and immunological techniques, including flow cytometry.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check.
  • Willing to work with research animals including assistance with minimally invasive procedures, imaging, and tissue collection.
  • Willing to work with anesthetics.
  • Work requires a flexible schedule, which may occasionally include weekends, late nights, and holidays as necessary to achieve research goals.
